Downtown Toyota and Social Mums Club Offer Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Access to Opera Queensland

That’s why we were thrilled to partner with Social Mums Club and Opera Queensland to offer a truly special experience. Through an exclusive contest run in partnership with Social Mums Club, a select group of mums won the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Opera Queensland and witness the artistry that brings productions like La Cenerentola (Cinderella) to life.
A Behind-the-Scenes Tour Like No Other
This intimate experience gave guests a rare glimpse into the creative heart of Opera Queensland. Led by Karen Cochet, Head of Wardrobe, attendees were treated to an in-depth look at the intricate craftsmanship behind the costumes that transform performers on stage. From design to fitting, they saw first-hand the meticulous work that goes into every detail.
Stephanie Tudhope, a Social Mums Club member, was especially impressed by the artistry of the costumes.
“They had added so many layers to the costumes we saw—they were absolutely beautiful. The coat with all the flowers looked fantastic on stage,” Stephanie said.
Connecting with Arts and Culture
Beyond the costumes, the event immersed guests in the world of opera right here in Brisbane. Richell Masarik, another Social Mums Club member, shared her excitement about the experience.
“The music masterclass and costume design insights were amazing—such beautiful costumes and materials. And the high tea was absolutely delicious,” Richell said.
For many, the combination of stunning designs, behind-the-scenes industry insights, and the delightful high tea made for an unforgettable experience.
Kirsty Foster, owner of Social Mums Club and Downtown Toyota Brand Ambassador, was equally moved by the day.
“Going behind the scenes at Opera Queensland was magical. Seeing a private coaching session with one of the artists, watching the design team work so passionately, hearing from the director about the vision of the performance—and best of all, the costumes,” Kirsty said.
The opportunity to engage directly with the design team and hear first-hand from the director added another layer of depth, making the event even more special.
